A porch is a functional addition to a property, providing a dry and secure space before entering a dwelling. It also saves on heating costs by creating an additional buffer to the outdoor elements. In order to construct a porch without Planning Permission, the following should be adhered to. It should be noted that any design concept only slightly beyond these limitations can still be accepted, within reason.

Dimensionally

The floor area should not exceed 3 square metres.
The height should not exceed 3 metres.

Positioning

The location should not be within 2 metres of a boundary or highway.
