Ordnance Survey Plans
NOTE: Ordnance Surveys can and do have inaccuracies of up to 1 metre, it is strongly recommended that a traditional site survey is carried out, especially where large structures are proposed on small plots.
Ordnance Survey Maps have a wide range of uses, primarily they are used to locate and illustrate a particular site(s) pursuant to a planning application, or for use in association with land ownership plans. They can also be used for setting out proposed construction (at a conceptual stage) and provide a cost effective solution, compared with full survey. Typical A4 sized plans are available from £40, that includes local authority standardised annotation showing site boundaries as well as other ownership boundaries.
Traditionally when purchasing paper copies of maps for both site and location plans, most users will have to buy two copies as they are at two scales. We don’t do this, instead we purchase one digital map which can be printed at any scale required. This provides a significant saving to the client, originals are also retained for 12 months should copies be lost, or if they are required again / re-printed at a different scale. Due to the technical nature of Ordnance Survey data, they can be displayed at various scales, including these standard ratios:
