Sustainability

CPA Planning Design promotes any form of self sustaining energy solutions, whether photovoltaics (Solar Panels), ground/air source heat pumps, or a return to traditional wood burning. We have an excellent knowledge and experience of all modern methods for those that wish to invest in the future, for both themselves and their children. We can provide independent advise on the most appropriate solutions based on the property structure (for additions) or the site itself.

With the rising costs of energy, the concept of a Passivhaus has increased in demand, where buildings are designed to minimise heat loss. Financial savings boast up to a 75% reduction in running costs, achieving close to the target of 80% set by the UK Government. Savings can be further increased by arranging mortgages through Passivhaus discount schemes from outlets such as the Ecology Building Society.

Methods of achieving a Passivhaus include:

There is no avoiding the subject that initial cost of the build would being significantly higher than traditional methods, however over a short time, the costs would be returned. Viewed from a longer time span, it can contribute to a reduction in the use of fossil fuels, pollution and minimising individuals carbon footprint.

We intend to add further information in due course, in the mean time please view the Passivhaus Trust website.
